Walks in Granada

Agua oculta que llora. Sultana y mora
Secret water which cries. Moorish queen and ordinary woman

Granada is an inland city, capital of the province with the same name and which has a short coastline, the Costa Tropical. The city owes its location to being positioned at some 700m between a fertile plain and the Sierra Nevada range of 3000m peaks to its east, so high that despite the southern latitude there is skiing from November to May. The most famous Granadino is Federico García Lorca. It was capital of the last Nasrid emirate and based on the fortress/palace of Alhambra, built during the XIV century.

The province is divided by the north/south A44 motorway linking Madrid with Granada and then the coastal A7 motorway, the most expensive in Spain per km with its tunnels and viaducts.

Help

You can use these pages to browse for walks in specific regions, counties and areas. It is a good idea to narrow down your search to the most local area possible, as the list of walks for larger areas can be very long. An alternative way of searching is to use the Find a Walk tool.

We would like to include a short article for each of the areas on these pages. If an area has no article and you can send us a few hundred words about the area, pointing out its key attractions and other useful information, we would greatly appreciate it.
