Glenesk - Loch Lee - Shank of Inchgrundle

Walk ID: 939

This walk, starting at Invermark at the head of Glenesk, follows the River North Esk briefly to its source, Loch Lee, where a good track follows the lochside and then the river to the Falls of Unich, a spectacular single drop from the end of a gorge to the valley floor. From the falls a path leads up through the gorge, offering good views down the gorge and to the surrounding hills and to the Falls of Damff. A short climb following a small burn to the north of Cairn Lick leads to a great view of Loch Lee and of Carlochy of Lee, until this point a hidden corrie loch. The route returns via a track down the Shank of Inchgrundle to retrace the route along Loch Lee and back to the car park.

02/07/04 - Alan Gordon : If you can organise transport it is possible to walk on over from Inchgrundle to Glen Clova. The path on the top is not too clear but you should arrive at loch Brandy where you can descend to the Clova hotel for much needed refreshments.
