Silverbridge - Little Garve Circular

Walk ID: 847

The walk begins at the old bridge over the Blackwater. The car park is large (it needs to be - this is a very popular stop) and has toilets and there is a picnic area overlooking the river. Paths are good and there are many viewpoints, swimming pools and picnic sites.

At the Little Garve end you cross a long, humpback bridge dating from the mid-18th Century, built as part of a road network designed.to help subdue the clans after the Jacobite Rebellion.

If taking photographs and you don't have many exposures left, I suggest you keep the bulk of them for the second half of the walk.

25/08/05 - Keith Mead : Currently (August 2005) the first part of this walk, the path along the east side of the River Blackwater, has been closed by the Forestry Commission because of "extensive windblow". The more picturesque path on the west side is still available though - and worth seeing in both directions!
