Circular Walk from Grantown-on-Spey

Walk ID: 837

The walk begins and ends at the new Spey Bridge on the outskirts of Grantown. At first on broad paths through mixed woods, it later meanders on narrower paths through open pinewoods, grassy glades and later, birch woods, with lots of heather and blaeberries and you might see any of buzzards capercaillie, great spotted woodpecker, brown hare and roe deer. Also, the red squirrel still outnumbers the grey here. Part of the walk follows the Spey and in season, salmon may be seen in the famous pools. There is no climbing involved.
