Walk
ID: 511 |
From Mortlake Railway Station, the route heads north across Mortlake Green and down an access road to the Budweiser Brewery, soon reaching the Thames Path on the south side of the river. The Thames Path is then followed westwards for 8km, passing on the way Chiswick Bridge, The Public Record Office, Kew Bridge, the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew (the world's largest botanic park) and the Royal Observatory at Richmond, the Meridian Line, Richmond Lock and Twickenham Bridge. The walk then strikes inland, climbing Richmond Hill past the Star and Garter Home. Richmond Park is entered from the west through Richmond Gate and left to the north through Sheen Gate. The walk concludes with a section through a residential area (East Sheen) back to Mortlake Railway Station.

07/07/09 - Stephen Harris :
A nice walk with some good sections of the Thames Path. Some sections at the start are a little tedious and watch out for the large numbers of unruly cyclists who frankly couldn't care less about pedestrians using the path (the scoundrels!)..
Other than this, a nice walk and probably the best bit is that it seems like you walk on the Thames Path for ages and once you come off, the bit back through Richmond Park is quite quick!. 8/10.
