Our route leads from the Visitor Centre for an easy gradient until the col by Clais Rathadan, at the head of Glen Gelder. Next a moderate climb W to the col below Meickle Pap, with intense views of Lochnagar's 300m headwall, followed by a sharp ascent to the eastern summit plateau. The route continues to the high point of the massif, Cac Carn Beag, at 1,155m.
The return follows the Glass Allt stream, passing a spectacular waterfall before a steep descent to the glen floor. A level track then leads easily back to the start point.
