Banchory - Crathes Castle - Banchory
|
Walk
ID: 398 |
The walk is mainly on the level. It passes through picturesque woodland and riverbank scenery. At Milton of Crathes there is a small craft village of shops, art gallery and restaurant. The route continues through wooded paths in the grounds of the sixteenth century Crathes Castle. The castle and its world-famous gardens are open all year round. Its yew hedges date from 1702. An NTS shop and restaurant are also found at the castle.
After following another tree-lined pathway along the route of Aberdeen's water supply, the walk returns to Banchory by a short stretch through a built-up area, then revisits the riverbank.
January 2006 Due to construction work after Waymark 26, part of this walk may be blocked.
