Glasgow's Kelvin Walkway: Clydeside - Maryhill

Walk ID: 3878

This very sylvan walk is along the River Kelvin, with lots of interest throughout. It's hard to believe that one is walking through a great city!

The linear route begins at the 'Armadillo' or Scottish National Exhibition Centre and allows the walker to follow the River Clyde downstream, before turning off to reach the Kelvin and wander along its wooded banks through Kelvingrove Park. Then it leaves the West End and enters the district of Maryhill. Along the way one passes (or maybe not) The Tall Ship, the Transport Museum, Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery, Glasgow University, the Botanic Gardens and lots of bridges, churches and various sites of former industrial activity. The Kelvin Walkway extends all the way to Milngavie; the section north from Maryhill may be the subject of a future walk.

Information for Dog Owners: subject to the normal precautions to be observed by dog-owners when walking in urban areas, this walk is thought suitable for biddable dogs.
