Orkney: Stromness and Brinkies Brae
|
Walk
ID: 3796 |
The walk starts at the quayside and rises gradually above the town to a signposted path leading over moorland to a trig point. From here there is an excellent view of the harbour and the shipping as well as of islands surrounding the mainland. Hoy is just a few miles away, dominating the skyline to the south-east, but the Old Man is not visible from here. The walk, though short, is steep in places and has a section that can be wet and rough, but it is a good way to get an overall picture of this corner of Mainland in a short space of time.
