Wroxeter Roman City (or Viroconium as it was known then) was the fourth largest city in Roman Britain, having around 5,000 residents. On this walk we pass by the extensive ruins, that you can visit if you wish. We then walk along The Severn Way to the hamlet of Eyton on Severn. It is possible to arrange a visit to the Wroxeter Vineyard (www.wroxetervineyard.co.uk) before taking a gentle climb up Charlton Hill, where the best views on the walk are laid before us, to the picturesque hamlet of Donnington. It is then a gentle downhill stroll back to the start, where refreshments can be taken at the Horseshoe Inn.
