Deuchrie – Beltondod (Dunbar Common)

Walk ID: 3559

Starting at the foot of the Lammermuir Hills, the walk uses rights of way to climb up onto Dunbar Common, returning via the Herring Road over the shoulder of Watch Law and then through a farm and a wood to the starting point. There are fine views from various points of the walk, not only of the other Lammermuirs, but out to sea and across to Edinburgh, the Forth and Fife.

Mostly on good tracks, there are a couple of narrow paths through bracken where care must be taken of ankles.

27/02/09 - Robert Gemmell : Things are a little different from points 9 through to 16, due to this being right through Crystal Rig II wind farm construction site. Follow the temporary right of way & beware of construction traffic. All the trees between these points are now felled. Still an excellent walk, now with the added interest of seeing a wind farm close to hand.

27/02/09 - Robert Gemmell : To add to my last comment, the house at point 14 is to be demolished & an electric sub station built.

02/05/06 - David Baillie : Tough climb to at the start from Deuchrie but then fairly easy from there.
