Ronda to Benaoján
|
Walk
ID: 3435 |
This route can be done in its own right as a one-way walk, returning by train to Ronda, or combined with Walkingworld route 3436 as a superb circular walk. The route starts at the southern end of Ronda at the Barriada San Francisco, just outside the town walls. After a short walk along the road towards the El Sur campsite you head off into the country along well-made farm tracks. After crossing a couple of valleys the route descends to the Rio Guadiaro, passing close to the Cueva del Gato (to which a detour can be made). The walk ends at the small hamlet of Estación de Benaoján Montejaque where you can take the train back to Ronda, perhaps after a well-earned rest and / or lunch at the Molino del Santo Hotel. If you decide to walk back to Ronda, don't spend too long over lunch, as you want to arrive below the Tajo de Ronda in the late afternoon for the best photo opportunity.
