Attenborough Nature Reserve - River Trent
|
Walk
ID: 3390 |
Parking just outside the reserve, the path crosses the railway and continues on to pass by the southern end of Attenborough Village. The lagoons of broad water will then be passed on both sides. Many different kinds of birdlife will be seen, from swans and Canada geese to moorhens and lesser-known varieties. The views are a photographer's delight.
Then a stroll along the River Trent is taken to watch barges passing by. Eventually the path brings you back to the Reserve car park. (You may park here if you wish, but it is a pay and display area). On the west side is the ultra modern and not very picturesque, Visitor Centre. However, the cafe is first class, with large windows where the ducks etc can be watched whilst you partake of a cuppa and a cake, if needed and lounging in the comfortable settees.
The return journey is started from the car park and passes a very scenic view of Attenborough Church. The route finishes with a stretch along the River Trent and a return to the car.
