Kirk Yetholm - The Schil Circular, using the Pennine Way
|
Walk
ID: 3015 |
We start our walk from the beginning / end of the Pennine Way at Kirk Yetholm. We leave the thatched-roof pub to walk along the road section into the foothills of the Cheviots. From here we start our climb along the low-level section of the Pennine Way that leads us up to the base of The Schil. Crossing the England / Scotland border fence we climb up to the rocky outcrop summit of The Schil. Here on clear days we are rewarded with some beautiful panaromic views over the border counties. Leaving the summit, we retrace our footsteps back into Scotland and onto the high-level route of the Pennine Way that takes us over White Law, an exposed section with distant views, then down to reach the road that takes us back to Kirk Yetholm.
