Wadhurst - Bewl Water - Wadhurst
|
Walk
ID: 2980 |
We start our walk from the large, picturesque village of Wadhurst, set astride the B2099 in East Sussex. We head across the border into Kent, passports not required, to walk a section of the delightful Bewl Water Reservoir. Bewl Water is the largest stretch of open water in south-east England. It is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, in the High Weald on the Kent and Sussex border. The reservoir is host to a huge variety of wildlife and is one of the region's most popular attractions, catering for a variety of outdoor pursuits. We shall be detouring to the visitors' centre, where a more comprehensive insight into the history of Bewl Water and its facilities may be obtained. Retracing our steps, we continue our walk around the edge of the reservoir and eventually cross farmland, heading back towards Wadhurst.
