Glen Doll, Corrie Fee, Mayar, Driesh and the Kilbo

Walk ID: 2675

This walk offers a rich variety of walking. From the landscaped car park and picnic area, the route initially tracks the course of the White Water in Glen Doll, following wide forestry roads that rise gently into Glen Doll Forest. A woodland path then leads you into Corrie Fee, a beautiful steep-sided corrie with a waterfall and a stream that meanders among the hummocky glacial moraines.

Corrie Fee is part of the Corrie Fee Nature Reserve and is home to many rare subarctic plants. A steep climb up the back wall of the corrie leads to a grassy plateau and two Munros, Mayar (928 metres) and Driesh (947 metres). The panoramic view from these summits includes Lochnagar to the north, the Angus hills to the east, the Lomonds in Fife to the south and the Glenshee hills to the west. The descent is down the Kilbo Path, an old right of way between Glen Clova and Glen Prosen.

The descent begins on open hillside and finishes in a cool damp forest, crossing small streams with moss-covered rocks. Back at the car park you can relax at the picnic area and cool your feet in the South Esk. Try feeding the birds: the chaffinches here will eat from your hand.
