Starting from the roadside in the scenic Glen Esk, this route climbs to the summit of Mount Battock, the most easterly Corbet (hill over 2500 feet), which sits on the county boundary between Angus and Aberdeenshire. The lower sections are on rough estate tracks but the higher sections are over heather-clad hillsides with large areas grass and peat which will be boggy after wet weather. Apart from a small wooden bothy on the ascent there is no shelter on this route so go well prepared for all weathers. On a clear day you will be rewarded with views over Glen Esk to the south and Deeside to the north. On the higher sections where there is little or no path, an old wire fence provides easy navigation to and from the summit.
