The Gardens of Castle Kennedy and Lochinch Castle
|
Walk
ID: 2511 |
Lochinch Castle is home to the Earl and Countess of Stair and its landscaped grounds, together with Castle Kennedy Gardens, extend to some 75 acres, beautifully located between two natural lochs. The gardens are situated about four miles east of Stranraer and are open daily between 1st April and 30th September. A delightful walled garden may be discovered behind the ruinous old castle and there are colourful borders before the present castle. Additionally there is a huge circular lily pond and spectacular spring displays of rhododendrons and azaleas around the grounds, which offer pleasant walks and fine vistas. There is an admission charge to the gardens.
