Schiehallion Scramble

Walk ID: 2484

Climbing all the way from the 'Braes of Foss' car park on a newly-laid path for the first two miles, we ascend Schiehallion -'the place of the Caledonians' and thought to be Scotland's most perfect mountain, due to its symmetrical cone shape. The final leg is a scramble over boulders to reach the summit where we are rewarded with some amazing views over the Tay Forest Park area.

17/07/04 - Michael Armstrong : 1. I believe that the translation of the name Schiehallion is "Fairy Hill of the Scots. 2. The John Muir Trust own the mountain and a visit to the website at www.greentourism.org.uk/Schiehallion.html can add to your enjoyment of the superb mountain.
