Trevélez - Siete Lagunas
|
Walk
ID: 2276 |
This is an outstanding, longish day walk and in spite of a nearly 1500m height gain is not difficult and eminently doable by most relatively fit, regular walkers. The description is based on a spring ascent and involved some snow traverses, but be prepared for snow at almost any time. The route may vary somewhat in high summer, particularly the top pitch just before the corrie, but route-finding is not difficult following a well-defined path. Ignore timings on other guides, the walk there and back takes the best part of ten hours. Some parties camp at Siete Lagunas or stay overnight at one of the several refugios on the other side of Mulhacén, towards Valeta. On a fine day the views from this walk throughout its entire length are truly amazing, making this a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable mountain experience.
