This route on the northern side of the Sierra Grazalema offers some of the best views and greatest walking in the region. Passing between the two 1,000m-plus peaks of Lagarin and Malaver, you are treated to the magnificent scenery of the northern Grazalema area with stunning views down the valley to Zahara de la Sierra, its lake and the pinsapar forest and gorges. As you come out on the col above El Gastor you can see right out over the Olvera Plain to the lone mountain of Zaframagon. The return is equally impressive, as you contour high up on the slopes of Malaver before dropping back down to Montecorto. Never mind the height gain, the views are worth it.
