Alajar - Linares de la Sierra Circuit
|
Walk
ID: 2265 |
This is a comfortable half-day circular walk between two of the nicest villages in the region, Alajar and Linares de la Sierra, visiting on the way the deserted hamlet of Los Madroneros. The route is mostly on the ancient rural cobbled paths and drove roads that criss-cross this fascinating area between rolling hills and century-old dehesas (managed oak and chestnut forests), where the black pigs for which the region is famous, roam in abundance.

18/09/06 - Keith Mead :
** IMPORTANT ** At the time of writing (Sept 06) the outward path from Alajar is blocked just before waymark 11. It looks like an official closure (wire fence, toppped with barbed wire). There is however an alternative route from near this point back to Alajar using a high level donkey path (good views), making a round trip of about 2 hours. The alternative route is well signposted and easy to follow.
