Walk
ID: 1986 |
A bracing moorland walk on a section of the Southern Upland Way which will appeal to naturalists and archaeologists alike: marsh cinquefoil and sundew, bog asphodel and orchids flower in season; hen harrier, buzzard, raven, curlew and wheatear may all be seen. Abundant evidence of human habitation over five thousand years is found on this walk, from a Neolithic chambered cairn, via the mediaeval settlement of Fauldinchie and Bronze Age burnt mounds, to a farm abandoned in the 1960s. All this plus fine far-reaching views and the prospect of a cuppa or a pint on your return to the charming village of New Luce.
