Beinn Achaladair from Loch Tulla
|
Walk
ID: 1847 |
This walk starts at Achallader Farm, near Loch Tulla. After walking through rough farmland and a couple of considerable fords, the route heads up to Crannach Wood, crossing over the spectacular West Highland Railway. The ancient Caledonian pine forest is replaced by an eerie ghost wood as the climb continues upwards, passing by Lochan a' Chreachain and ascending Beinnn a' Chreachain (1081m) by its north-east ridge. After passing over a top, Meall Buidhe (978m) and dropping to 813m, a very steep but safe ascent through crags is made, up Beinn Achaladair's east ridge. After soaking in stunning views – weather permitting – the route continues over the Munro's south top and down a long ridge to a col, following then a good path north down Coire Daingean and Coire Achaladair, which leads straight back to the farm.
