St Cuthbert's Way - Part 2
|
Walk
ID: 1754 |
This part of the St Cuthbert's Way takes us firstly along the tranquil banks of the River Tweed, before crossing through the hamlet of Maxton and along a beech hedge-lined country lane. We then join the Roman road of Dere Street that runs down to the Monteviot House Estate, passing the site of the Battle of Ancrum Moor, Lilliard's Stone, Baron's Folly and the Waterloo Monument, with some super views along the way, to reach the visitors' centre at Harestanes, where a bus can be caught back to St Boswells.
