Oakamoor - Churnet Valley - Dimmings Dale - Oakamoor

Walk ID: 2252

Starting from the Oakamoor picnic site, the walk follows the track of the old North Staffordshire Railway’s line, now converted into a walkway adjacent to the River Churnet.

After the walkway is left you come upon the Ramblers Retreat Restaurant at the entrance to Dimmings Dale, where anything from a cup of tea to a full three-course meal can be purchased. Proceed up the dale, passing ponds full of wildlife amongst the mixed woodland.

After crossing the dale by a weir, a roadway is soon reached adjacent to a small group of houses. The route back to the start is then via quiet country lanes.
