Applegarth - Whitcliffe Scar(Walk ID: 1034) The start of this walk is only about one and a half miles from Richmond, so affords a good chance to explore this lovely ancient market town with its cobbled square, sturdy castle and riverside picnic areas. The walk itself has a wonderfully tranquil feel about it, passing through woods and over stone-walled fields above the beautiful River Swale, before returning along the heights of Whitcliffe Scar with its enchanting views over Applegarth, Swaledale and Richmond.
