Lairg - The Broch Walk(Walk ID: 3783) One of two enjoyable walks beginning at the excellent Information and Interpretation Centre at Lairg, partly in a lovely open wood and partly on open moor. The walk also borders Little Loch Shin and passes a Hydro Electric Dam. Smaller ponds show a variety of wildlife and the path visits the remains of a broch (a place of refuge in distant troubled times).
A very good family walk with dog and the walk is suited to wheelchairs.
Walkers can join this walk to Walk 3782; both start at the Centre (light refreshments available there).

Lairg - Ord Hill Archaeological Walk(Walk ID: 3782) A short but fascinating walk at Lairg; Ord Hill is only 150m but of much archaeological interest, illustrating the settlement pattern in the area from 3,000 years ago. In order to interpret the landscape on the hill it's best to get one or two of the leaflets available from the excellent Information Centre and looking over them while having a snack (available at the Centre) in the garden before going on to the walk. The Centre is open 1st April to mid-October and is a mine of information.
Paths are good and the walk is an enjoyable experience for the whole family.

Falls of Shin(Walk ID: 3757) This is a short walk in East Sutherland where you can shop at Harrod's... It's a circular walk at the spectacular Falls of Shin, where Mohamed el Fayed has built a Visitor Centre / Restaurant / Harrod's Outlet on his estate. Many salmon leap the falls and a viewpoint has been created. There is also a children's play area. The walk climbs 150ft and gives a good view of the River Shin below the falls. There is also a short walk suited to wheelchairs. This is a great family outing, with dog.

Lairg: Raven's Rock Walk(Walk ID: 3784) This is a delightful exploration of a deep gorge west of Lairg and Bonar Bridge. Part of the walk is along the top, looking down into the gorge, while suspended wooden walkways enable penetration along the bottom, following the Allt Mor (Big Burn). An excellent family walk, a voyage of discovery; no special footwear is needed, but boots are best. Dogs are welcome.

Carbisdale Castle Walk(Walk ID: 1603) A pleasant walk in Sutherlandshire, overlooking the Kyle of Sutherland. It's adjoining Carbisdale Castle which, only ten miles as the crow flies from the exclusive Skibo Castle (Madonna's wedding and other celebrities), is quite affordable, being now a youth hostel...

Rosehall Trails(Walk ID: 3797) A very pleasant walk (one of several here) a few miles west of Lairg and Bonar Bridge. It's mostly in open forest but has a diversion to visit the striking series of waterfalls on the River Cassley (a noted salmon river) where there is a picnic site and lovely pools for swimming. There is a lot of interpretative information en route and at the unique log cabin information centre at the car park. We hoped to see one of the Sika deer (imports from south-east Asia) but were unlucky. This is a good family walk, with dog. Boots are best.
