Call Out Mountain Rescue!
This sturdy little A6 guide to being safe in the hills has been around for a couple of years now, helping to raise valuable funds for mountain rescue teams in England and Wales. A good couple of hundred have been bought by Walkingworld members. Its 170 full colour pages are packed with useful information and good advice.
The new edition comes with fold-over cover which means it can be found more easily on the bookshelf while keeping the original wire binding. It might be a bit too chunky for carrying everywhere in your rucksack, but it’s worth keeping as a handy reference alongside your maps and guidebooks.
As before there are sections on preparation and route planning, how best to stay safe in the mountains and what to do if you are involved in an accident.
A new first aid section contains valuable first aid advice for the non-medically trained – with guidance how to recognise the nature of any injuries and keep the casualty comfortable as you await rescue. Easy-to-follow, simply illustrated instructions on giving CPR and placing the casualty in the recovery position, plus a wealth of information about the type of injuries rescue teams encounter.
There is also a revised countryside section and an updated foreword from HRH Prince William of Wales (who has just qualified as an RAF Rescue helicopter pilot so if you are unlucky enough to have an accident you might be lucky enough to meet him).
You can buy the guide from us for £9.99 plus £2 p&p (sorry, UK and Ireland only) or save the p&p charge by buying it when you subscribe or resubscribe. All the profits go to Mountain Rescue.
